Your Next Stamp Release Preview: Birthday Greetings

After a little summer break Your Next Stamp is celebrating 12 years with a super fun playful release that is full of birthday themed stamps, dies and brand new to the shop stencils. Oh so many great stencils. This happens to be day one of previews, the full release will be available this Thursday. For day 1 I had a complete blast ink blending and layering stencils to create these playful birthday cards, because no celebration is complete without a birthday card. For each card I choose to play around with a different stencil and sentiment from the Birthday Greetings Stamp set.

At the end of post find a special code for 20% off your YNS website order celebrating the new release Thursday September 16th. For details on your chance to win the items previewed today also head down to the bottom of this post.

Before I even pulled out my card stock, I first picked out the ink colours I wanted to use. I’ve listed the distress ink colours I chose next to images below.

Festive berries, spiced marmalade, Mustard Seed, TWISTED CITRon & salty ocean

Get the look:

  • Lightly blend choosen ink colours over an approximately 5 1/2”x 5 1/2” white cardstock. (Colours used noted under image).

  • Once happy with the solid colour blends, make sure the distress inks are dry before laying birthday confetti stencil overtop.

  • Apply some versa mark ink through stencil holes. Add clear embossing powder and heat set.

  • Using the same distress inks, blend over the embossed resisted cardstock.

  • Die cut the ink blended cardstock with circle die. Add to a same size card base.

  • Stamp and colour the sentiment. Either apply with foam tape or die cut and layer 3 of the sentiment die to give depth.

  • Add finishing touches with gumdrops and optionally a frame circle in black.

  • Lightly blend choosen ink colours over an approximately 5 1/2”x 4 1/4” white cardstock. (Colours used noted under image).

  • Once I was happy with the solid colour blends, I blended the same colours over the top of Geo Fun stencil with a little more pressure.

  • Make sure distress inks are fully dry before stamping and embossing the sentiment from birthday greetings with prize ribbon distress oxide and clear embossing powder.

  • Die cut the ink blended cardstock with stitched scalloped rectangle. Add to A2 size card base.

Get the look:

  • Lightly blend choosen ink colours over an approximately 5 1/2”x 5 1/2” white cardstock. (Colours used noted under image).

  • Once happy with the solid colour blends, die cut the blend out with a circle frame die. You should end end up with 2 pieces - a wide circle and a thin circle frame. The pieces can be offset when finally mounted on card.

  • Blend the same colours overtop the wide circle with Simple Circles stencil with a little heavier pressure.

  • Adhere the 2 die cut circles to a slightly larger size black circle card base.

  • On vellum stamp birthday greeting sentiment in Versafine and clear emboss. Use a circle die and the confetti circle die to die cut sentiment out.

  • Adhere the vellum to the card base, hiding adhesive behind the embossed letters.
