LDRS: Pattern Heart Strips

Have you started on Valentine’s Day cards yet? Playing with the new Strip Dies. The new release is now available in the LDRS shop and in addition to all the new fun playful stamps, there are these super useful dies for creating strips of different sizes and widths. So with the addition of the heart die from the Slimline Scallop Die Set, I took my colourful strips and turned them into these fun little graphic hearts. The final card ended up being 5”x7” because I felt the 6 hearts looked to crammed together on a smaller A2 size card base.

Get the Look:

  • Start by picking out the colour card stock you want to use. For each colour, die cut using the background strip dies. They come in both A2 and slimline size. I happened to use the 1/8” Slimline Background Strips, 1/4” Slimline Background Strips and the 1/2” Slimline Background Strips.

  • Trace the heart die onto copy paper and cut out as a slightly larger square. Do this 6 times. This gives you something approximately size of the heart to overlay the strips onto.

  • Now for the fun part of playing around with strips to create different patterns. Once your happy with your patterns, adhere the strips to the 6 different pieces of copy paper. (Benefit of gluing card stock strips onto copy paper is the thickness can still easily be die cut).

  • Lay the heart die overtop of each of the squares with strips and die cut.

  • I also die cut additional hearts and layered several pieces of card stock behind the stripped hearts for strength and depth.

  • Using the Love Tag Stack stamp set, stamp and heat emboss the XOXOXO sentiment twice onto black card stock. (Super cute with the little hearts in the Os). Cut out as a strip.

  • Now time to pull the card together. Originally I laid the hearts out on an A2 card base, but it felt too crowded so instead I went with a white 4”x6” piece of card stock laid over a light grey 5"x7” card base.

  • Finish with embellishments.

Hope you enjoyed the card and learned a few things along the way. Happy papercrafting : )
