YNS Challenge #146: Decorations

Continuing to celebrate Your Next Stamp’s birthday this month, I’ve choosen to use the ‘Celebrating You’ stamp set for the new challenge theme of Decorations. I’m sure like me you must have tons of those cute little packages full of pretty sequins, gumdrops, jewels and all sorts of other things that are perfect for decorating and giving your card that little extra something. For me I love presents in this stamp set because there are just so many options for dressing them up and decorating them.

Get the Look:

  • This is a very easy card to pull together.

  • Start by stamping and die cutting presents from ‘Celebrating You’ stamp set. ( I wanted the card to have some dimension, so initial presents I stamped approximately 2/3 way down a piece of 4”x5 1/4” Bristol smooth card stock . Other presents I stamped and die cut. Die cutting extra presents out of card stock so the images could be layered up for depth.)

  • Pick out 5 colour combinations with Zig Clean Real Brush Markers.

  • Colour the presents using a waterbrush/paint brush to blend the Zig colours on presents. Switch out the order of the colour combinations on for each row of presents. This way card gets a colourful uniform look but all the presents don’t look the same.

  • For depth stack up the presents on additional pieces of die cut card stock. One row is 2 layers other is 3 layers.

  • Before adhering rows of layered presents to 4”x5 1/4” Bristol smooth card, position and stamp sentiment.

  • Glue on the layered presents.

  • Now the really fun part, pull out your gel pens, drops, gems, gum drops etc. and embellish and decorate presents.

  • Add card to black A2 card base.
