Purple Onion Design: Stencil Over Masking
/So, here is a really cute set of cards with the super characters from the ‘A Happy Little Place’ release at Purple Onion Designs.
Don’t forget there is still a day left to enjoy the special bundle price on the complete 21 stamp collection "A Happy Little Place". The set includes a collection of buildings, the adorable characters and “The Around the Town Sentiment set”. This special bundle offer is $105, which is a 30% discount that ends tomorrow Friday, May 14th at Purple Onion Designs. Of course all of these stamps can also be purchased separately.
For these cards I wanted each character to be the star of their own card, so I went with slightly smaller 3.5”x3.5” panels. I also used a favourite technique of ink blending with stencils. Just love the fun, bright backgrounds that ink blending and stencils create for these cute characters.
Get the look:
Start by laying out where the character and sentiment will be placed on white card stock.
Stamp and mask character and add sentiment (or add sentiment to strip)
Mask off the shape and lightly blend ink colours over each shape. (I used shape dies of multiple sizes and cut out of masking paper).
Overlay a stencil over the solid ink blended masked area. Blend either the same or a complimenting ink colour overtop.
Then there is the joy of the big reveal as your pull all the masking up.
Colour your characters with your favourite method of colouring.
Some of the cards I used an infinity star die set to cut the character out and also matted it with a white die cut star. The other cards I use a heart die and a simple square die to create panel.
All that is left to do is add panels to colourful 3 1/2” x 3 1/2” card bases.
