YNS Challenge #164: Scraps and Getting More From Your Slim Line Dies

This time the challenge over at Your Next Stamp includes something that I am sure we all have kicking around our craft space and hiding in our crafty drawers: scraps. I have a drawer full of bits and pieces that I have gathered over time. The paper I choose to use was some partially die cut water coloured card stock that I had used with cosmic shimmer pixie powder. The powder has this beautiful pearlized look to it and I love how the colours have other colours buried within. I figured perfect to use with the slim line geometric panel. And for something different and to extend the use of my slim line panel I decided to  use it on an A2 size card.

Also make sure to stop by the YNS Challenge Post and check out the rest of the DT projects as well!

  • First enjoy some quality time with all of your beautiful paper scraps determining which scraps work well together. I was looking for complimenting colours, but complimenting patterns or textures also work well. The shimmery water colour paper is from some die cut trees on a card I made back in 2018. Click to see project. Guess I hold onto my scraps for a long time

  • Start by die cutting the slim line geometric panel in white and adhere to a 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” panel. Die cut the scraps section by section making sure that each segment is covered fully by a scrap.

  • Now simply paper piece all the die cut segments back into the  panel.

  • Cut 2 thin strips of one of your scraps to edge each side of the geometric panel.

  • Trim off any over hang from the ends of the card.

  • The rest of the card is very simple. Die cut the fancy hello die out of holographic cardstock and adhere to the panel. (I backed the sentiment with couple of additional cardstock hello die cuts for depth.)

  • What I love about the word hello is you  have so many options to add a secondary sentiment for any occasion. In fact it’s easy to leave the 2nd sentiment off until you know the occasion. In this case I added a small birthday, but you could easily add hugs or beautiful.

  • Lastly add to an A2 card base.
