Jane's Doodles Challenge #9: Animals

Sometimes cards start with a plan and sometimes they don’t. This card kinda started with a plan….  Basically I was in the mood to colour, but I knew eventually I would be pulling it all together on a card, so I choose 4 base colours that I could work with - aqua, green, pink and yellow and went from there. Now I love me to colour some animals and snails well you can have a lot of fun with bright colours. So for this challenge pull out your favourite colours and animals and go crazy.

Get the Look:

  • Stamp out snails from Jane’s Doodles Belated Birthday and give them all a cupcake with some very simple masking.

  • Pick out 4 base colours you want to work with. I happened to pick aqua, green, pink and yellow. Colour snails with your favourite medium, making each a different colour combo.

  • Cut them out.

  • Cut out a 4”x4” white card stock and then cut out openings with 1 1/2” x 1 1/2” square die. I basically found the centre of the card and then placed the die 1/8” away from the centre to keep everything evenly spaced.

  • Using the same 1 1/2” square die cut out solid card stock to match the 4 main colours you picked. Or you could simply use white card and colour them.

  • On one of the coloured card squares heat emboss the sentiment. In this case I had to mask the sentiment so I can have it vertical since the stamp is all on one line.

  • Now it is a matter of putting it all together on a 4 14”x 4 1/4” card base. I used some 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 strip paper to add interest and layered the white card die cut and paper pierced in the coloured squares. Finally arranging my colourful snails on top.
