Purple Onion Design: Train is Leaving the Station

The train is slowly leaving the station, in more ways than one. Of course on this card but also the Purple Onion Designs Bundle Sale is ending very soon. I have all the details on the bundles at the end of the blog. For this card I am using the Train & Train Tracks along with the Train Station from the new Stacey Yacula stamp collection “I’ll Be Home For The Holidays”.

 
 

Get the Look:

  • This scene may look complicated, but it consists of just 3 stamps. The stamps themselves have lots of fun details which make it looks like it is a ton of work but its not. The trick is some simple masking.

  • To make sure I get the stamp positioning right I stamp out all 3 of the elements first on clear acetate. This can then be used as a template for laying out the stamps.

  • A stamp positioner is helpful for this masking technique. First position and stamp the train in alcohol friendly ink. Mask the train. Secondly position and stamp the tracks. Lastly position and stamp the station in a grey alcohol friendly ink.

  • Use alcohol markers to colour in the scene. I choose to keep the background subtle and coloured it in shades of grey .

  • Stamp, emboss and cut out the sentiment .

  • Adhere scene panel to A2 card base and lastly add the sentiment strip.
