Your Next Stamp Christmas Release SpotLight: Candy Cane Cat
/I always love Christmas card making and of course that means I love checking out all the knew crafty supplies to make holiday cards and projects. Your Next Stamp Christmas Release is full of lots of fun stamps, dies and stencils. Which leads me to this question; are you in the “I love stencils camp” or “give me a background die any day of the week” or even “I want it all, stencils and dies”? I have 2 same but different cards. Both use Candy Cane Cat, but one is with zig real clean brush markers and a diagonal stencil the other is Copics and diagonal die. I’d loved to know which one you prefer between the two.
This release Your Next Stamp is changing it up and showcasing the new products over the next 6 days. There is also 2 chances to win a $25 egift card to Your Next Stamp online store. Details can be found at the end of the blog.
Get the look:
Adhere the Holiday Stripes Stencil to an approximately 6”x 6” white cardstock. Ink blend Festive berries distress ink from the top down and blend worn lipstick distress ink from the bottom up.
Remove the stencil and lightly add some additional colour over the top to soften the white.
Rotate the stencil on on the cardstock to create a plaid pattern and blend top to bottom again. Before removing this time also apply some glitter paste.
Set aside to dry.
Using Mini Slim Line Die, die cut the ink blended cardstock with the 2nd largest size die.
Using the largest and 2nd largest Mini Slim Line Die, die cut them together from red card stock to create a frame for the stencilled panel.
Apply both the frame and stencilled panel to a 3 1/4” x 6 1/4” mini slim card base.
Stamp, emboss and die cut the sentiment from Holiday Twinkle set.
Stamp, colour and die cut the Candy Cane Cat. For this card version I choose to use Zig Clean Brush Markers.
Adhere sentiment and Candy Cane Cat to the card base. Optionally adhere with foam tape or alternatively layer up pieces of glued cardstock to give depth.
Get the look:
Die cut the Mini Diagonal Slim Die Panel out of white, red and pink card stock.
Pop die cut pieces out of the white frame.
Apply score tape or similar type of adhesive to the front panel of a 3 1/4” x 6 1/4” mini slim card base.
Adhere the white diagonal die cut to the front of the mini card base. Using the red and pink die cut panels remove the pieces and puzzle piece into the open diagonal slots.
Benefit of multiple die cuts is you can mix and match the colours of the frames with other colour diagonal pieces and end up with multiple background options..
Stamp and emboss the sentiment from Candy Cane Cat.
Die cut out with a circle die.
Stamp, colour and die cut the Candy Cane Cat. For this card version I choose to use Copic Markers.
Adhere sentiment and Candy Cane Cat to the card base. Optionally adhere with foam tape or alternatively layer up pieces of glued cardstock to give depth.
Bonus Look:
Additional thing you can do to the cat image and to step up the look and get additional depth is to layer the bow. (Believe this is called decoupage).
It may be hard to tell from the photo but I stamped and cut out the bow 3 times.
The tails of the bow and inside loops are coloured and die cut with the main cat image.
Then colour and cut the bow part and raise it up with foam tape.
Lastly colour and cut the knot and raise that up yet again with additional foam tape.
