Shades of Blue
/I have wanted to use the HedgeHugs stamp set from Your Next Stamp for quite a while. For 2020 I am trying to make sure I give as much love to my older stamp sets as my new ones. The latest challenge over on Your Next Stamp blog gave me the perfect idea for using the wreaths in the stamp set.
Originally I started out stamping and colouring a wreath on white cardstock and I was going to lay it on ink blended kraft. But this just didn’t look right, so I ended up creating a 2nd wreath on kraft to go with the kraft ink blended background and ink blended over white card for the initial wreath on white card stock. Does that make sense that was a lot of switching around.
Get the look:
Stamped wreath from Hedgehugs stamp set on both or either of white or kraft cardstock depending on what you want to create. Ink blend with Salty Ocean distress ink on card. I didn’t worry that blended ink was covering the image, since I was colouring over it in blue markers anyway.
Picked out some different sets of blue copic markers to colour the wreaths. Wreath on white cardstock used: leaves - BG72, BG75 and florals B69, B63, B24 & B26. Wreath on kraft cardstock used: leaves - BG72, BG78 and florals B69, B66, B24 & B28. For some of the blues I went a shade darker on the kraft.
Die cut wreaths.
Used some simple graduated distress ink blending on the backgrounds with Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire.
For one distress inked background I used Simon Says Stamps new Thin Circle Frame dies. The other background I used an older Simon Says Stamps Frames Wafer Die.
Then I flipped the cut out frames in the die cut background so the colours were inverted and glued to a card base.
Chose and white embossed the sentiment before mounting the wreath with foam tape.
Entering these cards into Your Next Stamps Challenge #130 - Shade of Blue. I know challenge rules state there is a limit of 3 entries, so even if these 2 cards counts as 2 entries I should still be good : )
