Your Next Stamp: Stretching Your Slim Line Dies

I have loved making slim line cards for many years and it is so exciting now that there are so many new, neat options for creating so much more than a basic slim line card. I decided to see what different ways I could create a card with the Slim Stripe Panel Die from Your Next Stamp (YNS) with just the die and sentiment die - Bold Happy Word Set. What I created was really only scratching the surface of options. Thinking perhaps in the future I might try using it as a stencil with glitter paste or simply using the die cut colour stripes without the frame. Or I wander if I could partially die cut it for a shorter card. Hmmm so many options, not enough crafty time : )

Now what inspired this card and colour combination. I wouldn’t say this is my usual go to colour scheme, however I really loved the colour combination on some tissue paper I was using. Thought it was interesting that even thou the colours did repeat on the tissue paper, they didn’t necessarily follow a pattern. For these cards I used colour card stocks that were similar as the inspirational tissue paper.

Get the Look:

  • Die cut a slim line card base of 7" x 8 1/2” rectangle out of black card stock, fold to 3 1/2” x 8 1/2”.

  • Using the Slim Stripe Panel Die, die cut out of white card stock to get the complete frame and stripe pieces. (Put white card stock stripes aside for another project).

  • Pick out multiple colour card stocks. Cut the card stock so they are about half the length of the Slim Stripe Panel Die. Run 2 colours of card stock through the die cutting machine at a time. This should give you plenty of stripes to play with.

  • Adhere the frame to the card base. Inlay the colour stripes into the slim line stripe panel.

  • Die cut the Happy sentiment. Use a black glitter embossing powder on the letters.

  • Die cut the Happy letters 2 more times and glue together to create some depth to the sentiment.

  • Centre left to right and adhere Happy sentiment.

  • Die cut a black strip and then die cut Birthday sentiment out of it. Also cut birthday out of pink card stock.

  • Adhere the black strip with the negative part of birthday die. Inlay the pink card stock.
