Your Next Stamp Spring Series

This week Your Next Stamp is running a Spring Series. Each day a couple of design team members will be posting some perfect spring themed cards to inspire your spring and easter card making ideas. I guarantee you there will be plenty of fun Easter ideas, including this one I created for day 2 of the series. Get the look:

  • Start by picking out you colour papers and creating some paper strips. Now take the colours you’ve chosen and pick out markers that are similar in colour.

  • Stamp the bunny and mask before stamping the big egg. In addition wipe away ink or cover the sitting chick before inking up the egg and stamping. Since the little chick at egg base will be mainly covered removing it just provides a cleaner look. You have to draw in a very small amount of the egg but it is so easy to do. (For a more detailed look at how to do masking click on this previous post on masking).

  • Colour in your scene.

  • Layout your strips so you are happy with the order. Adhere the strips to a piece of copy paper (approximately 4 1/4 x 5 1/2), starting at bottom and working up. This way when glued together the thickness of paper strips can still easily be die cut.

  • Now time to put our scene and strips together. In order to have the 2 pieces feel like they belong together I fussy cut out along the base of our scene so that our bunny and egg can overlap the strips. Adhere the scene to copy paper overlapping strips and then die cut with a rectangle die 3 3/4”x 5”.

  • Stamp sentiment.

  • Finally mount onto a white card base. Add embellishments and egg doodles. I chose to add some fun stripes and dots with a white and silver gel pen. And finally a little shimmer pen.
