YNS Challenge #145: Celebration

This month Your Next Stamp celebrates their birthday. So what is a more appropriate theme for the new challenge other than ‘Celebration’. There are so many ways to interpret celebration, but I feel nothing screams celebration quite like a good shaker card.

Get the Look:

  • Start by die cutting 2 identical size pieces of cardstock. In my case they were 3 3/4”x5”. 

  • Using a stamp positioned, position and stamp critter where you want it to be on the cardstock. Stamp on second piece of card stock (I find stamping image on second piece of card stock useful, since it helps me decide where I would like the shaker window).

  • Colour in your critter and background with your media of choice. (I also coloured and die cut additional birthday presents from Holiday Twinkle for shaker bits and decorations).

  • Using embossing mat, emboss the confetti die onto the shaker window panel.

  • After embossing, position and die cut the opening that will be the shaker window. There are so many neat die shapes out there and can I just say whoa Hexagon’s are trendy right now and I soooo jumped on the bandwagon. It is fun to change up the die cut shapes you use and I found this one a nice change from the usual circle.

  • Now we can build the shaker. First add acetate to the die cut opening, then either use foam tape or die cut some craft foam to back your die cut shaker card. 

  • Because we started with the exact same card size it is easy to add your shaker bling, add glue, line up two pieces of card and glue together.

  • Emboss the sentiment onto black card stock and cut it out.  

  • Mount the shaker on a black card base. Add sentiment and decorate with additional presents.
