YNS Challenge #158: Sentiment Spotlight

Time for a new challenge over at Your Next Stamp - Sentiment Spotlight. I think that we can all agree that sentiment dies are an impactful and easy way to add a sentiment to a card. I also find that they are perfect for when you’ve created your card and perhaps overlooked where your sentiment should go. For my card I used this awesome sentiment die set called Bold Happy Birthday Sentiment which has 2 different size happy dies and 2 different size birthday dies. It was probably one of the first sentiment die sets that I ever bought because the multiple size options made it so versatile.

Get the Look:

  • PREP WORK : Die cut the confetti panel out of acetate to create a stencil or out of masking paper.

  • On an approximately 3 3/4” circle of white card stock ink blend a rainbow of colours over top of the newly created confetti stencil or mask.

  • Die cut sentiment across the centre of confetti blended card stock.

  • On a slightly larger 4 1/4” circle of white card stock ink blend the same colours as with confetti pattern. Start softly on the outside and get heavier as you blend where sentiment will be overlaid.

  • Time to build shaker. First add acetate to the die cut opening, then either use foam tape or die cut some craft foam to back your die cut shaker card. 

  • Fill the well with shaker bits. I used clear and silver to reflect the colourful background.

  • Add glue, line up two pieces of card and glue shaker together front and back panel. 

  • Finishing touches add heat embossed secondary sentiment on black cardstock and some additional bling to front panel.

  • Create the back panel for the card. Take a second 4 1/4” circle, score a small line at top to create a card fold area and on opposite side cut small portion off the bottom so card will stand.

  • Lastly adhere shaker front panel to the back panel.
