Critter Scene with Masking
/Hoping in the next little while to put a little fun in some friends mailboxes, because we all know that getting mail is always fun especially when it’s not expected. Just want to remind people that I miss hanging with them and look forward to when we can finally hangout.
Overall this is a relatively simple card. Some basic masking, blending and copic colouring.
Get the look:
I have always enjoyed making long cards, which are now commonly called slim line cards. So very excited to use my first slim line die: Trinity Stamps scalloped card panels and banners slimline die set (man that’s a mouthful). But hey if you don’t have a slim line die, don’t let that stop you. Simply cut a piece of card stock that is 8 1/2”x 3 1/2” and your good to go.
This card involves a little bit of masking, however it would be very easy to achieve the same look by cutting and laying out stamped critters on card base.
The key to masking is to stamp the things you want in the front first, mask them, then stamp the other critters and things that will be behind. Once you’ve done it a few times it really does become easier, honestly. (For a more detailed look at masking click on this previous post on masking).
After stamping and masking the critters I can easily add in an ink blended background with distress inks. I additionally added post it tape to mask around the edge of the card stock. For the sky I blended antique linen, abandoned coral and salty ocean. For the grass I use twisted citron and mowed lawn.
Now I can enjoy colouring in these adorable mice from So Mush Fun stamp set from Your Next Stamp.
All that is left to do is add the sentiment and add the scene to a card base.
