Two Tricks to Easily Add Shimmer
/Sam here. Thought with Easter only a few weeks a way I would play with the new Easter set Easter Pirouette Stamp and Die. I also want to share a few tricks I have for adding some subtle shimmer and shine to your cards.
Get the look:
Overall this is a fairly easy card to pull together. What dresses it up is the extra shimmer that some sparkly embossing powder and some glitter pens bring to it.
To start with pick out the solid and pattern easter egg stamps you would like to use from the Easter Pirouette Stamp Set. There are many egg and pattern choices in this stamp set so it gives you a great variety to choose from.
Stamp the solid layer in a variety of colours. I used Pink Tutu, Peachy Keen, Lantern Yellow, Key Lime Pie, Swimming Hole and Mrs. Periwinkle.
TRICK 1: Glittery Eggs - Line up the pattern stamp overtop of the solid inked egg and then stamp the pattern first in the same colour ink as solid egg stamped and then with an embossing ink. Emboss with your favourite glitter embossing powder.
Using Easter Pirouette Stamp dies, die cut out all of the eggs. I chose to back the eggs with an additional die cut piece of card stock for little bit of depth when adhered to card base.
For this card design you only need 11 eggs, but I know I stamped many more and will save them with the stamp set for future projects.
With the most recent release there are some gorgeous collections of pattern papers. So to add some interest to the cards background, I chose a watercolour sheet from the Lovely Watercolor 6x6 paper pad and die cut it with A2 Stitched Layered Card Toppers.
TRICK 2: Shimmery Sentiment - Stamp ‘Easter Wishes’ from the Special Occasions Stamp Set in Alloy ink which is a light grey ink. Then trace over the letters using your favourite glitter pens. The great thing with the Special Occasions Stamp Set and it’s sibling the Everyday Sayings Stamp Set is they have nice size letters that are really easy to trace over. And there you have it a pretty shimmery sentiment.
Die cut the sentiment out with the companion Special Occasions Die and then also die cut the backer layer out of black card stock.
Now time to pull the card together. Adhere the die cut pattern paper to an A2 card base.
Arrange and adhere the eggs in 4 rows and finally using some foam tape adhere the sentiment overlapping the eggs in the 3rd row.
Hope you learn a few tricks for adding a little bit of shimmer to your cards. Happy papercrafting : )
