Haven’t used my coloured pencils for a while and I always forget how amazing they look on Kraft card stock. Perfect for a tabby cat.  For a fun twist to this card instead of having the focal image on the front our tabby cat is on the inside, with a peek thru window.

Get the look:

  • For this card start with the card base. Using an A2 Kraft card base determine where on the front to position a shape die cut and then die cut opening window that is large enough for stamped image to fit thru.  Could be round, square, any shape you like. 

  • The sentiment in the Purrr-fect Together is nice and long. However it does require a little bit of stamp surgery in order for the stamp to be able to wrap around the edge of the window. I find positioning stamp on a plastic sheet in a stamp positioner like the MISTI helps with curving and stamping a long sentiment. Not gonna lie it is a little fiddly, but I think so worth it. 

  • Stamp and emboss sentiment.

  • Using same Kraft card stock stamp and colour cat with your favourite medium.

  • Die cut cat out and then die cut cat 3 more times out of black card stock.

  • Glue the cat to the other black die cut pieces. This makes the cat nice and sturdy. It will stand off the card base background and have great dimension.

  • To create the background on the inside of the card. Die cut card stock a slightly smaller size than the card base. Blend an ombre of colour using 3 distress inks (pistachio, salty ocean & faded jeans). Add some splatters. 

  • Using white pigment ink stamp hearts on background. It is subtle but a nice touch. 

  • Now attach blended panel to inside of card, close card, position and glue on cat to background.

  • Lastly add some heart embellishments to tie in with the white hearts stamped on background.
