YNS Challenge #141: Shake It Up

There’s a new challenge starting over at Your Next Stamp: Shake it Up. Such an uber fun theme and perfect fit for anything that shakes, a shaker card, a shake your bootie card, a wobbler that shakes, google eyes etc. 

Your Next Stamps confetti panel die is the inspiration for my shaker card. It all started with me wanting to create colourful confetti shaker bits with the die. I also used the confetti panel as a stencil.

Get the Look:

  • Die cut 2 slim line card panels either using a slim line die or simply cut a 3 1/4” x 8 1/4” rectangle. 

  • Using die from Cool Tee’s die cut 3 t-shirts in one of the panels. 

  • Using the die cut t-shirt panel as a guide line, line up the t-shirt stamp through a one of the t-shirt holes onto the 2nd slim line panel. Stamp and repeat for the other 2 t-shirt holes. 

  • While stamping t-shirts create a negative mask for ink blending on a larger area of masking paper. (Stamp a t-shirt on masking paper and fussy cut up to the edge of the t-shirt and cut out the white sleeves.)

  • Using stamped panel. Place mask around the t-shirt and lightly blended two distress ink colours. Each colour blending out from one of the edges and meeting in the middle. Do this for each t-shirt.

  • PREP WORK: Die cut the confetti panel out of acetate to create a stencil.

  • Once happy with the solid colour blends, blend the same colours over the top of each t-shirt with the confetti stencil and a little more pressure. 

  • Next, time to build shaker. Add acetate and foam tape to the die cut panel. This shaker only needs one layer of foam tape because the filler is mainly flat card stock bits. 

  • PREP WORK: Pick out card stock that matches the ink blended ink. Cut out card stock pieces so that can fit 2 pieces of card on die at a time. These pieces will be the shaker bits.

  • Lay the shaker bits and little bit of glitter onto each of the stamped t-shirts and place the die cut panel overtop. The panels are the same size so they easily match up. Then place on a card base 3 1/2”x8 1/2”

  • Lastly comes the fun part of adding additional confetti from the die cut panels as embellishments.
