Purple Onion Designs: Sunshine Lake - Embossed Background

Purple Onion Designs: Sunshine Lake - Embossed Background

These cards are from Purple Onion Designs and Stacey Yacula’s latest release Sunshine Lake that came out in May. When I first got them I couldn’t wait to colour them in. However at the time I didn’t have time to colour in a full background so I choose a technique that I’ve used in the past stamping backgrounds in silver pearl embossing powder. Funny I did that technique last with Purple Onion Go to the Fair collection of stamps.

Easy Way to Create Skinny Strips

Easy Way to Create Skinny Strips

The Ellen Hutson Skinny Stripes die has been around for a while, but it is a new one to me. I love that you can make a very impactful background simply by using the die and some colourful colouring. I could have used colour paper but a) I figured it would be faster to colour strips and b) I certainly don’t have that many colours of card stock to pick from. Conveniently the skinny stripes die is the perfect size for your typical 3 1/2” x 8 1/2” slim line card.

Before we get into the card today I have some very exciting news to share. I am super excited to say I am joining the Your Next Stamp Design team. I have always loved YNS cute and adorable critter stamps sets. One of the very first stamps I ever bought was YNS Silly Monsters, which is still available. (I have included a picture at the bottom of the blog of one of the first cards I created with the stamp set way back in 2015. No giggling now.) So I am very looking forward to working with everyone at YNS, they have such a great team of people creating and sharing wonderful ideas

YNS Challenge #142: How does your Garden Grow?

How does your garden grow? Well if I’m being quite honest, not very well, I’d much rather be making cards than out gardening. But hey, this is a card challenge about gardening or being in your garden, or critters and bugs that hang out in your garden or anything related to gardening. So with this new challenge starting over at Your Next Stamp I created a little bird scene.

Jane's Doodles Challenge #13: On the Beach

Jane's Doodles Challenge #13: On the Beach

The new Jane Doodle’s Challenge is On the Beach. Perfect timing, it is very hot outside and less than a week until the kids are out of school. (I say out of school, more like done distance learning for now.)

This is almost a one layer card. The scene, other than the large palm tree is all on one piece of card. Even the divisions between the sections are embossed dies instead of die cut. By embossing the dies you keep it as a single sheet and also doesn’t cut the images.

How exciting is it that Simon Says Stamp has a Design Call out right now for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Design Team. Admittedly I haven’t had a chance to enter the Wednesday Challenge for a while, but I always love to see the amazing inspiration the design team has created. When I do have the chance to enter the challenge I always find the theme and designers creations a great way to start the creative thought process. I think it would be a lot of fun and great learning experience to be apart of that proces. Here is the design call link if you are interested in entering and/or finding out more information.
